Ski holidays with your dog: pet-friendly accommodation with GSI

October 2026

A ski holiday takes a little more planning when your dog is coming too. Alongside bedrooms, parking and access to the slopes, you will need accommodation that accepts your pet and a location that works for everyday walks.

With GSI by Foncia, start by checking the pet information on each accommodation listing. Acceptance depends on the property, and a supplement may apply. Before booking, tell the agency about your pet and confirm the conditions for your chosen accommodation.

Choosing accommodation that suits your pet

Browse GSI holiday accommodation in your preferred destination and read the individual listing. A pet-friendly description is a starting point, but it does not automatically confirm that every animal or group of pets will be accepted.

Tell the agency what type of animal you plan to bring and how many pets will be travelling. Ask about any restrictions, the applicable supplement and the conditions you will need to follow. If the listing is unclear, request confirmation rather than assuming that pets are permitted.

Look beyond the pet policy, too. Check the sleeping arrangements, entrance, stairs and available space. If the property has a balcony, terrace or garden, ask about its layout; outdoor space is not necessarily enclosed or suitable for your dog.

Where to look for a ski holiday with your dog

Here are properties whose GSI listings explicitly state that pets are accepted, with a direct link to explore each one. These examples do not guarantee availability for your dates. Before booking, confirm the conditions for your pet and any supplement with the agency. You can also explore the GSI destinations to refine your search.

Valmorel

Compare Valmorel’s different hamlets rather than choosing solely by proximity to the slopes. Think about the walk from your accommodation to an appropriate outdoor area, as well as access for unloading your luggage and your dog’s belongings.

Preparing for your mountain stay

Keep familiar things close. Pack your dog’s usual food, bowls, bed, lead, towels and any belongings that help them settle. Plan the journey and arrival so there is time to get comfortable before the holiday gets busy.

Plan around your dog as well as your skiing. Decide who will look after them while others are on the slopes. Do not assume that leaving a dog alone in the accommodation is permitted or appropriate; discuss the property’s rules with the agency.

Ask about local walking options. Contact the tourist office for current information on routes, access restrictions and any lead requirements. A property being close to a piste or trail does not establish that dogs are allowed there.

Consider winter conditions. Choose outings that suit your dog and the conditions on the day. If you have questions about cold weather, exercise or equipment for your pet, seek advice from your vet before travelling.

Respect the accommodation. Bring your dog’s own bedding, follow any rules about furniture and clean up after them. Ask the agency about departure requirements and report any damage promptly.

Frequently asked questions

How can I find pet friendly ski accommodation with GSI

Check the pet information on each listing and contact the agency to confirm the conditions for your pet, chosen property and booking.

Which destination should I choose for a ski holiday with my dog

Start with your skiing preferences, then compare accommodation access and local walking options. The destinations featured here are possible search locations; your pet’s acceptance must be confirmed for the property you choose.

Is there an extra charge for bringing a dog

A supplement may apply. Ask the agency to confirm the amount and payment arrangements before you book. You can also consult the GSI frequently asked questions.

Are all dogs accepted

Do not assume so. Acceptance depends on the property and applicable booking conditions. Give the agency the relevant details about your dog and check the booking terms for restrictions.

Can I bring a cat or another pet

Ask the agency before booking. A listing that accepts pets does not automatically confirm acceptance of cats or other animals.

Can I book a chalet with my dog

Check the pet policy on the individual chalet listing. The property type alone does not establish whether your dog will be accepted or whether the chalet is available for your dates.

Can my dog come onto the slopes or walking trails

Rules vary by location and activity. Ask the tourist office or relevant operator which areas and routes allow dogs, and follow the instructions provided locally.

Plan your stay with GSI

Browse GSI accommodation in your preferred destination, then contact the agency with your dates and details of your pet. Confirming the property’s conditions before booking gives you a clearer starting point for a ski holiday together.
